It appears the newer ansible, in bookworm, causes the error ERROR: Ansible requires the locale encoding to be UTF-8; Detected None. immediately on invocation of float, prohibiting any deployments from happening. I attempted to override my $LANG in different ways according to what I could find online, until I eventually discovered that the culprit is https://git.autistici.org/ai3/float/-/blob/master/float#L444 - if I remove that line, or set it to C.UTF-8 it works.
