A guide to the Critical theme

Critical is a child theme of Hybrid that was designed to house reviews for movies, TV series, books, and other types of entertainment.

This theme was created because of a high demand by users to have a theme that functioned like the movie database site I built. It’s great for writing reviews and building a community of people around a single topic. It was developed for WordPress 2.8+.

How to install Critical

Once you've installed Hybrid, follow these steps:

Unzip the critical.zip file (you've probably already done this).
Upload the critical folder to your /wp-content/themes directory.
Go to Appearance > Themes in your WordPress admin.
Activate the Critical theme.

Using the theme

Everything should work from the moment you have everything installed. Since the theme relies heavily on thumbnails, it might be helpful to read up on how images work within the Hybrid framework.

To get the ratings system working, install the WP PostRatings plugin by Lester Chan.

Widgets

Critical is packaged with an additional widget area (aside from the numerous ones already available).

Utility: Header: Located to the right of the site title and description. Optimized for 468px by 60px ads.

The most authoritative sources for finding out how to use the theme or do some nifty stuff are the Critical and Hybrid theme tutorials. I'll keep both updated with tutorials and frequently asked questions.
